DIY Linocut Printmaking (1/12/2025 & 1/19/2025)
Learn how to make linocut relief prints using easily accessible materials, no printing press required! In this two-part class we will cover designing a successful print, carving it into the surface of the linoleum block, and printing a small edition in black ink on white paper using a rolling pin or wooden spoon. At the end of class there will be an optional print exchange as well!
The first session will be one hour online and cover design and linocut basics. The second session a week later will be two hours in person at The Toolbox Collective and will cover inking and printing your linocuts using a rolling pin or spoon. You should plan on finishing carving your design into the linoleum during the week between classes.
Please purchase and bring your own linoleum, carving tools, brayer, and spoon/baren/rolling pin for this class (I have linked some sources below). I will provide ink, paper and glass pallets during our in person session.
Dates and times:
1/12 7-8pm on google meet
1/19 2-4pm at the Toolbox Collective 3400 42nd Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55406
